“Here’s another note: I want to make it clear that all photos were taken from a distance, of people appearing in public, with an impressive zoom, mostly from waist height so as not to be obtrusive. Many photos were destroyed because I found them exploitative or inappropriate. I used a Nikon 990 digital camera, often with a 72mm wide angle lens. For even further distance from the subjects, the photos were originally nearly 1MB files, at 2048 by 1360 pixels, and were cropped down for detail.”
