Martini dreams
I hardly ever drink Martini, but recent wheather conditions produced a somewhat altered state of mind which resulted in a quick dash to the supermarket and the purchase of a full bottle of Martini bianco. By the time I left my office, the bottle was half empty. By the time I fell asleep, it was near empty.
A few minutes or hours later, I was in New York. A middle-aged man with whom I was apparently very friendly (ahem) invited me to the opera, where they staged some show to do with Asia, with Japan. Show? It was a mix of cabaret – humorous moderation on the part of my friend that had me laughing in stitches -, opera Madame-Butterfly-style and lecture on Japanese film. Lots of people. Lots of hilarious conversation. True fun.
In a truly breathtaking performance, the moderator announced that they would soon show a really stunning piece of art that showed the style of editing typical for Japanese cinema. It was called the “daffodil style of editing”, as the viewer was supposed to get the impression of one visual leaf after another being peeled off from the film. The suspense was unbearable. Everyone was holding their breath, waiting for this remarkable piece of film to be shown. Then the film – in black and white – was shown. Unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to watch it because in the meantime the moderator had come to see me in my loge, where we started having wild sex.
I guess I should drink more Martini more often.
da hat wieder irgendein bloeder Schreiber nicht die Bedeutung des Wortes "Mutation" nachgeschlagen. Soll bei Journalisten ja häufiger vorkommen. Aber mei, "wenn eine Sache erstmal genetisch versaut ist kannst du das auch mit Prügeln nichtmehr ausgleichen".

das wort "mutation" ist so schön, dass auch nichtjournalisten es mindestens dreimal am tag nachschlagen sollten. nummer eins: "
jetzt zurück zu mutation. nummer zwei. hach, welch feiner zeitvertreib. fast ein http://.../#300">vish!

regel nr. 1: ein vish ist umso lustiger, je kürzer er ist; am meisten freude macht es dem nachschlagenden, wenn er zwischen zwei lemmata hin und her springen kann, solange er will.
regel nr. 2: ganz spezielle freuden gewährt der interlinguale looping-vish. man sucht z. b. zwei passende englische übersetzungstermini für ein paar von sanskritbegriffen, schlägt beide im skt-englisch-wörterbuch nach und findet dasselbe englische wort. selbes schlägt man im englisch-deutsch- wörterbuch nach und findet genau ein deutsches wort dafür. dann guckt man ins deutsche synonymwörterbuch und findet ZWEI synonyme; diese guckt man im dtsch-engl-wb. nach und stößt bei beiden auf das identische wort, das man schon vorher im skt-wörterbuch gefunden hat. geil!

hmmmmm.. are you quite sure it WAS martini? sounds a bit like the 19th century descriptions of what absinth aficionados were supposed to dream - especially the last part. *blush*

Meine Nachschlageergebnisse erwaehnen nichts von einer nichterblichen umweltbeeinflussten Veraenderung:
Brockhaus: Mutation die, Biologie, Genetik - sprunghaft auftretende Veränderung eines erbl. Merkmals (Ggs.: Modifikation). M. können auch künstlich erzeugt werden durch Chemikalien oder Behandlung mit kurzwelligen Strahlen.
Duden: Mutation, die; -, -en [lat. mutatio = (Ver)änderung]: 1. (Biol.) spontane od. künstlich erzeugte Veränderung im Erbgefüge. 2. (Med.) Stimmwechsel. 3. (veraltet) Änderung, Wandlung;
Ergo erwarte ich bei einer Mutation auch immer Veraenderung von Erbmaterial.
ja, so habe ich das auch verstanden. die nichterbliche veränderung durch umwelteinflüsse ist die "modifikation", die scheinbar einen gegenbegriff zur "mutation" bildet.
