Voices of the suppressed

an ancient egyptian sock
You know, it’s funny. Some profess themselves as of pristine social conscience and political awareness, but at the same time, it doesn’t occur to them at all that current conceptions of what is culturally valuable are far from innocent – it should be obvious that these are results of processes of selection, and suppression. There they decry sock paintings and poetry. But do they even know about that Greatest Sock Poet of Them All, Dr. Seuss? And does not the flood of creativity that his magnificient work “Fox in Socks” inspired testify to the subtle, yet deep inspirative powers that socks can exercise? A little bit more education would serve certain regulars at this particular establishment quite right.
